Painting a Day, ACEO
Welcome to my Artist Blog! I'm a Pennsylvania Artist who Paints Daily. I will be documenting my journey in this blog. My Paintings will vary in size, style, genre, and medium. I hope to improve my skills and share what I have learned. My Travels will be documented, as well as, weather phenomenon, my living environment, my Pets, the Wildlife that I encounter, and whatever else inspires me. Eventually the originals will all be posted for sale...check back for updates. I will also be posting reproduction products of the images on my various web sites.
Day Thirteen:
Just like sports fans collect baseball cards of their favorite players, art fans collect art cards of their favorite artists or artwork. An art card is a small pocket-sized piece of art. They are commonly know as ACEO (Art Cards, Editions & Originals). They can be original artwork or prints/reproductions of original artwork. These cards are bought, sold and traded all over the world. The official standard size of an art card is 2.5" x 3.5" (64 x 89 mm).
This is my ACEO which I created in 20 minutes. I read somewhere that a group of Artists are challenging themselves to create a painting in 20 minutes. So I thought I would give it a whirl. By practicing speed painting I'm hoping to improve my Plein Air skills. Plein Air Painting is wonderful...I love the results...but this time of year its nearly impossible to spend much time outside creating a painting. I'm hoping that by practicing to increase my painting brush stroke speed, I will be able to accomplish more Plein Air Paintings during the Winter months.

This Painting has taken much longer than one day to get to this completed stage. I just need to finish painting the edges black and it will be available. I edited the image for my blog, since it is a partial nude.
I added lots of textural elements to this Oil Painting, and I'm really pleased with the way it turned out.

Day Nine:
Birds. Birds are a favorite subject matter of mine. This Painting is a work in progress. My first experiment using Cardboard as my painting surface. I built up the painting surface with cardboard as well to give it a 2D effect. The ground that I chose to use didn't work out very well, because it kept lifting up as I was applying paint. The image that you see is just a base coat of oil paint. However I was pleased to discover that oil paints dry very quickly on this surface. Now that this is dry I'm going to try and go back into it again. With any luck it will be easier to paint on. And my experimentation continues....

Pennsylvania Artist, Cat Artist, Bird Artist
My Newest Cat Art. Watercolor Still Life painting of a Woman and her Pet Cat. Anyone who has ever let a Cat take over their home knows how much a Cat brings to it. This Lady is obviously the Loyal Subject of her purring companion.
I'm a Pennsylvania Artist who loves to depict People with their Pets, as well as depicting People interacting with Wildlife. Perhaps it is the wild side of our pets that is appealing to us. By bonding with them we bond with Nature. Having a close encounter with Nature uplifts us Spiritually. I hope to capture that feeling in my Art.
